Meet Our Staff
Rev. Dr. Rita A. Fry
Pastor Rita joined the Kenton United Methodist Church on January 1, 2018. She is a preacher that focuses on the area of leadership both in the church and in the community.
Pastor Rita is the second of two children born to Carlton and Barbara Hetzell. She believes in preaching and teaching the word of God, and just as importantly, she believes that we must "live" the word. Pastor Rita is an open and honest woman of God and is respected because of her “walk” with the Lord.
Pastor Rita was called as a preacher of the Gospel in January 2015. After being called to ministry in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church, she began her Masters of Divinity at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Pastor Rita completed her degree in December of 2017. She is a leader that has devoted herself to the betterment of people through the spiritual and educational process.
Pastor Rita was an educator in the Delaware Public School System for 25 years. She then worked as an Education Associate at the Delaware Department of Education. Retiring in October of 2017, Pastor Rita serves both Hartly United Methodist Church and Kenton United Methodist Church. She has been pastor of HUMC since July, 2016. Pastor Rita has matriculated through a few college degrees including a Doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University, a Master's degree in Physics Education from Delaware State University, and a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from the University of Delaware.
Pastor Rita and her husband, Donald “Don” Fry, were joined in holy matrimony on 9 September 2001. Don is a true man of God devoting his life to the purpose in which God has predestined for him. Don has a kind and open spirit that reaches out to everyone in which he meets. His playful and witty spirit sets him apart from others, as he is always thoughtful and generous. Don is an avid deer and waterfowl hunter.
Pastor Rita has three beautiful children: a daughter, Ashley and son-in-law, Dana; a son, Brandon and daughter-in-law, Amanda; and a son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Michelle and new grandson, ? – born ?.

Director of Youth Ministries & Kidshine Coordinator
Michael started on staff in May of 2017. He leads our middle school and high school aged youth ministries; he also coordinates our kidshine ministry (Sunday School) and works with the adult volunteers.
Michael is a native to Smyrna DE and currently works full-time with students in the Smyrna School District. Before his time at Kenton, Michael had experience directing youth minsitries at Smyrna Wesleyan Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, and Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Gloria G. Holland, Magnolia, DE and formerly Lewes, DE has been playing music in The United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She has served with 10 different pastors.
Gloria is also the Director of The "Cheer"ful notes Glee Club under the umbrella of Cheer, Sussex County. They visit nursing homes, senior centers and Veterans homes spreading "Cheer" to the residents.
On a personal level, Gloria is also available to sing for receptions, reunions, retirements, and funerals. You name it, she sings!
Her motto: If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain.
Roxanne joined the staff at Kenton in June 2015. She retired in 2014 after 29 years of service with the State of Delaware Family Court. She is originally from Elkton, Maryland and relocated to Smyrna, Delaware in 1982. She is currently married and has one son. She is active in the Altar Guild, Church Council and the communion steward for the 8:00 am service. In her spare time she enjoys making crafts and baking.

Eric and his family joined Kenton UMC in the spring of 2009 and he handles the custodial duties at the church. Eric also has been involved with the trustees, worship team, choir, vacation bible school, and he occasionally sits in with the 8am praise band.
